SUMMER SPLASH 4
Preview: Friday, June 22, 2018, 7 – 9 pm
Exhibition: June 23 – July 31, 2018
For the fourth time the DAM Gallery organizes the group exhibition Summer Splash. Current and not yet shown early works by artists of the gallery will be presented.
The exhibited works refect the already known spectrum of the gallery from early plotter drawings and images to animation and software art.
"HH.movi" is a 3D animation typical for Eelco Brand. The hyperrealistic representation of nature creates a calming, poetic efect.
"E-volved cultures succession # 6" is a recent software work by the artist duo Driessens & Verstappen. Within the parameters set by the artists, new variations of fligree drawings in pastel tones are created, reminiscent of satellite images or surfaces of stones.
Carla Gannis undermines ubiquitous facial recognition technologies in the series "The Non-Facial Recognition Project“ by modifying and obscuring the profle pictures provided by her Twitter network, until new, unidentifable identities emerge. The DAM Gallery shows four images of the limited series.
In the generative video "Teapot", Casey Reas uses footage of the American nuclear tests in Nevada in the 1950s. The heavily rasterized images, colored in black and red, are interrupted again and again by Russian terms in Cyrillic. After the earlier, abstract works, "Teapot" shows a new direction in the work of Casey Reas.
With "Hatchplot 1.4" the exhibition features two of Mark Wilson's first plotter drawings, which in their clear composition are unusual for the artist.
